The Producers – Producer Mezcal

Life-long friends from both sides of the border united over a shared vision: to create a smoother, lighter, more approachable mezcal. Fueled by a taste for perfection, they traveled through Oaxaca to source the finest ingredients and learn superior harvesting, roasting, and distillation techniques. They discovered decades-old wild agave, artisan mezcaleros, and a unique method for producing the only mezcal they personally care to drink. Their journey resulted in a true partnership with maestro mezcalero Juan Pacheco, who turns agave into liquid gold.

JUAN PACHECO

Born on December 9, 1963, in Ejutla, Oaxaca, embodies the essence of Mezcal’s heritage. From his formative years, he learned the intricacies of Mezcal production at the family ranch.

In 2009, Juan returned to his roots in La Noria to reinvigorate a dormant distillery and reignite agave cultivation. For over three years, he has played a pivotal role as head master distiller and shareholder at The Producer Mezcal, showcasing his resilience and dedication to the craft.

CELESTINO SERNAS LÓPEZ

Born on May 19, 1975, in Santiago Matatlan, the heart of Mezcal culture in Oaxaca, Mexico. As a third-generation Mezcalero, Celestino’s affinity for the craft began early.

From nurturing family agaves as a child to honing his skills at the family palenque under his father’s and grandfather’s tutelage. With over three decades of dedication, he has become one of Oaxaca’s most revered Maestros.
